What's New at Go Bananas Watersports
New kayak models to look for........
Ocean Kayak has had such good response to its new fishing kayak the Trident 15 that it has launched the Trident 13 and Trident 11 for people looking for a lighter more nimble version of the 15 footer. New for ladies kayaks is the Venus 10.
The Tridents main outstanding characteristic is the Rod Pod and the Sonar Shield.
The Rod Pod is basically an elongated hatch between your feet that you can stow your fishing poles, spear guns, or really big fish down inside the hull without having to turn around or climb forward to access your other hatches. It's the most accessible large hatch that we've seen on a kayak to date.
The Sonar Shield is a storage area for fish finders just in front of the Rod Pod. Just flip the lid open and fold up your fish finder. It fits right between my front rod holders in perfect view with the lid acting as a sun shield.
Fish Finders have gotten so advanced that you'll be able to spend more on them than you will on your kayak package. If you're a gear freak then look at Hummingbirds top of the line models for GPS, depth recordering, and mapping technology all rolled up in one unit. It even features side scan sonar so you can see what the bottom looks like. Garmin has the edge on the mapping technology for the moment but things in the electronics field change very fast.
